First Few Days

FRIDAY. On Friday we arrived at the Center of Jesus the Lord, here in the French Quarter of New Orleans. We were warmly welcomed by staff and parish members at the Friday night Mass. Oh, yeah, we feasted on a local favorite, Brothers' Fried Chicken! We started strong with worship, led by Bryan Smyth. The Spirit showed up and it was an awesome first day. Our six newbies (first time missionaries) were very impressed with the beauty and accomodations here at the Center. They thought Wes was lying until they saw it for themselves. Everyone's healthy, except Erin, who has toe stitches, but we're taking turns carrying her around. Time for sleep.

SATURDAY. Prayer at the cross was at 7:45am. Lots of sleepy faces! But we took our postcard picture anyway. We should receive our postcards to send out by late this week. Lots of visiting today including a walking tour of the French Quarter that included eating beignets at Cafe du Monde! Also, we toured the Lower Ninth Ward, and met some of our favorite ministries including Project Lazarus and Hy & Libba McEnery's home. After dinner, we had worship time and again the Spirit was strong! Lots of powerful prayer ministry. The newbies, in accord with tradition, took a tour of the crypt, in the lower basement area. Then off to bed.

SUNDAY. Prayer at the cross was at 8am and everyone was on time! We went to Sunday Mass in a packed church. They specially recognized us and even had us come up for prayer. These people here treat us like treasured guests and even the newbies say that they feel so much at home! After lunch we went off to ministry sites. Today they included: Mr Earle's home repair, Project Lazarus, Toy's family home rehab, visit with Miss Ava, Free Prayer, Intercessors, Feeding the Hungry ministry and more. Teams were out until almost 8pm. Some people had crawfish for the first time. Everyone at some, even though we had to take the meat out of the shell for a few.
